I have always loved the humble jumble sale. When small I would race around the ones held at our local village church hall, sadly now demolished. Thrilled at the idea of choosing my own toys and paying for them with my few pennies of pocket money. So much treasure for so little expenditure. Basically I still feel the same, although I don't quite whizz around at such speed anymore, or at a level likely to up end an unsuspecting pensioner.
I don't go to them as often as I would like, not enough time see?
But yesterday I did, and found some great things. Not quite as grand as this .
This lady, or possibly her mother found a coat at a jumble sale, that had once belonged to our gracious Maj. I do believe anything is possible now :)
But I love my treasure trove almost as much. Books galore.
I realise that last choice may seem a little strange, but I was so happy to find it as I need it for a little bit of research that I'm doing.
I also found a huge, heavily stained hard back 'Cookery in Colour' a picture encyclopedia for every occassion, edited by good old Marguerite Patten. Some of the images were contemporaneously glamorous.
Others just totally luscious.
And of course not to disappoint some just hysterically funny.
I also scored a selection of silk scarves with hand rolled edges, and my first piece of Horrockses clothing.
A divine 1950's style blouse, perfect with some white trousers, which hopefully I will be sporting on holiday this Summer, that's if we can sell the house before the Winter is upon us again.
You had some great finds - I especially like the Horrockses blouse. Jumble sales are as rare as hen's teeth around these parts and I don't half miss a good old rummage at a humble jumble.
